On Saturday 7 November 2026, the Johanna Naber Prize will be awarded for the 24th time. This prize is awarded to the best Dutch and/or Flemish final-year dissertation (at Master’s level, doctoral thesis or licentiate thesis) in the field of women’s and gender history.
The prize is named after Johanna Wilhelmina Antoinette Naber, author of numerous historical studies and co-founder of the International Archive for the Women’s Movement (IAV). Atria later emerged from this archive.
The Johanna Naber Prize is awarded annually by Atria, Institute for Gender Equality and Women’s History, and VVG, a platform for women’s and gender history. Through this prize, both organisations aim to encourage research into women’s and gender history and to raise its profile.
Gender History Day
The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday 7 November 2026 during the VVG’s annual Gender History Day at Atria. An afternoon of lectures and presentations for anyone interested in women’s and gender history.
